Easily one of the best shops I've been to in a long time. I'm a hobbyist mechanic, so I generally only visit the shop when I need something major or specialist equipment. This time around was tires, alignment, and rear drum inspection because I just didn't want to deal with em right before vacation. So here's my experience as a first timer, needing tires (customer provided), alignment, and rear drum inspection. Talking to them on the phone and making the appointment was a breeze and the woman I spoke with was very customer friendly. On the morning of drop off, I was early, but one of the technicians let me in to do the write up instead of leaving me to fill out the drop off sheet. The shop was immaculate. I didn't take a tour, but it was hands down the cleanest shop I've seen, well organized, and the cars I did see currently in the shop were kept tidy and nothing just laying around the vehicles. I was contacted a few hours later for an update. Expecting to hear SOMETHING negative on my rear drums, the technician stated there was nothing wrong, and actually asked if I had been told my another party there was an issue. I stated no, I just wanted to have them checked since I had recently upgraded the front brake system. No service was done, and they even emailed me pictures of the inner drum. When I arrived for pickup, the woman at the counter made friendly small talk but did not take away from getting me in and out in a timely manner and was very friendly. Looking at the vehicle, everything appeared exactly as how I delivered it, only with new tires. When I left, I immediately noticed how the alignment felt essentially back to factory. Many shops I've encountered have left the steering wheel offset, or a tire didn't quite feel right at highway speeds, but I've not had a single issue since I drove off the lot and it feels like it did when I bought it. I've just recently moved here, and B&L just happened to be the third place I called, and ultimately decided on due to the outstanding overall reviews. So long as I'm in the area, this will hands down be the only shop that sees my business.

Thanks so much for your review Chris! Our team would like to thank you for your business, and we look forward to serving you again soon. Have a bless new year! Sincerely, Brad Brown, Owner

Best service. The best service and they make sure you know if there are problems. They explain and even show the part and/or pictures. Costs are reasonable for the quality of work they do. I am a returning customer and will return again. Love Liz and Scott.

Outstanding. I found the customer service to be great. They informed me of a few maintenance problems that I needed to have taken care of. They took care of the problems quickly. Looking forward to being a regular customer of theirs.

Would recommend them. I thought customer service and the quality of work to be great. The crew there definitely know what it takes to keep your vehicle running in tip top shape. They also pointed out a few things I need to take care of in the near future. I would recommend them to anyone who's serious about keeping their vehicles in great running shape.

Helpful. They gone to help you any way they can

Couldn't be happier. They may ask questions to make sure the work is to be dune and may give alternatives if are any for the customer to make the final decision.

Fine work. I will always say, B&L is good people, fine work as they help me, my parents, my family always with our vehicles (good and bad), but in the end, our cars are still handling fine. I am pleased as always as they look out and advise what needs to be done for car maintenance. To Brad, Scott, and the B&L Team, I thank-you. The Graves family thanks you (long-time customers).

Really horrible service. Initially when I went for a oil change I was happy with the service. So I decided to go second time when the TPMS sensor light in my car came on. Even without taking a proper look they decided the TPMS sensor had to be replaced and charged me almost $150 to get it fixed. After driving for about 30 miles, the light was back ON again. They asked me to bring my car back to the shop (which I did since I had already paid for the new sensor) They "worked" on the car for the second time for more than six hours and the lady at the front desk (Liz) told me that the mechanic had fixed the problem. When I got in the car - the TPMS sensor light was STILL on. So on what basis I was told that the problem was fixed? They now claim that the problem might lie somewhere else. They offered to do the diagnostics for free since the original problem was not resolved, however later on they changed their minds and now want me to pay another $100 for the diagnostic. Also, it makes me wonder if there was anything wrong with my original sensor. Maybe the problem was something else from the beginning and it was not diagnosed correctly. I am really frustrated with the service. Even after spending almost $150 the problem is still not fixed. The entire staff is making up some excuses and start giving reasons why the problem is not fixed. Brad - the owner is never available to talk on the phone. I would avoid this place in the future.

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave your review of our staff and facility. We appreciate the opportunity to serve you, and look forward to seeing you again soon! Thanks for being our customer. Sincerely, Brad Brown, Owner

BE AWARE. THEY ARE A COMPLETE RIP OFF. THEY CHARGE YOU FOR WORK THAT IS NOT DONE PROPERLY. I AM VERY UNHAPPY WITH THEIR WORK ETHIC. SCOTT WAS LESS THAN UNDERSTANDING, WHILE LIZ WAS RATHER WILLING TO HELP. HAD TO PAY SOMEONE ELSE TO REDO THE WORK THEY DID. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND ALL ABOUT THEIR MONEY, NOT THEIR CUSTOMERS.

The problem with your vehicle was exactly as explained to you where you had a vacuum leak in your fuel system. We removed all the gas you put into your diesel and even had your truck running and driving. But, due to the vac leak caused by the faulty manual fuel pump the dealer replaced as we said that might be the problem you were extremely taken advantage of. We treated you with nothing but respect and got the truck back to a running state but referred you to the dealer for the vac leak. In no way should the dealership have lied to you about all the things they said they did when we had the truck running short periods of time and ran fine. Hutchens Chevrolet absolutely ripped you off 100% because their mechanics are paid straight commission! As the owner I even told you myself the truck will run and there was no problem other than a vacuum leak. I can hardly see how charging you two hours labor to remove all of the old gas you put in your diesel a rip off. Plus we got new diesel in tank and everything re-primed and truck running and driving. Normally that’s a min 6 hour charge, plus all filters, and any other needed items if you would have tried to start the vehicle but luckily you realized in time. The problem was your manual pump and a quick re-prime of the fuel system. I’d bet any amount of money they sold you everything they could because that’s how they work and what they have to do to make money. The basics here is we treated you 100% honestly, and sent you to the dealer to have the vac leak fixed and they took 100% advantage of you. All I can say is that we are used to our customers telling this all the time and the reason why they come to the most trusted repair center in Hampton Roads. I apologize you are feeling wronged, and I do understand your frustration. What I as a 64 year 3 rd generation business are more frustrated with and wronged by is the way dealers treat people and all I can say is that we fight everyday against their completely scandalous tactics to milk every dime they can at every instance. Hutchens Chevrolet won’t be in business much longer anyway since they are in the process of selling out to Priority Chevrolet. I sincerely think when you look at the facts you’re gonna see what truly happened. Hutchens is dying for work, and they took you hook line and sinker. Sincerely, Bradley Brown Owner
